If you’re familiar with the Amplified Bible this is similar: the text is expanded to bring out the subtleties and alternatives in the original Greek. But there are differences, and in my view it makes this one better. The “base text” is a more modern translation, which I know will not please everybody, but there are times when I struggle with a more traditional reading. It is much easier to see which expansions are alternatives for the same word or phrase with substantially the same meaning, and which are alternative interpretations. In some cases, the expansions also include the literal meaning and/or a word or phrase from a more traditional Bible version which people may be familiar with. There are also some in-line cross-references and comments.
